My names Frank Ball Jr, I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I own and operate Five Ball tattoo. I've been tattooing for 16 years.  I'm a second generation tattooer, I learned under my father Frank Ball sr. who's been tattooing for 35 years.  Who learned under the one and only Mark Mahoney of the infamous Shamrock Social club off the beautiful Sunset strip in West Hollywood, California.  I grew up in tattoo shops.  Wherever my father was I was fortunate enough to be there too.. A majority of my learning of the trade was done in fullerton California at the original Eric Maaske's Classic tattoo..After Eric passed my father ran the shop and I spent many days cleaning tubes, breaking down stations and mopping floors.  I took on drawing young and began my full apprenticeship at 14 years old.  I started tattooing at 15 and left school to pursue my career.  I grew up around bikers, punk rockers and gangsters.  I feel it reflects in my art and tattoos. Counter culture.at its finest..Im mixed and grew up in LA so I gravitated towards Fine-line black n grey tattooing..lettering..stuff like that.  But was heavily schooled in American traditional and Japanese by my father and have been fortunate to work under some of the best in the industry that have mastered these styles. I got a lot of my influence from some of the masters I've been lucky enough to work under like Jack Rudy of Good Time Charlie's tattooland..Chris Garver of Five Points tattoo, Freddy Corbin of Temple tattoo and many others. 

  I feel that whatever style I'm approaching I approach with a timeless out-look. I'm known for being versatile and specializing in every style. Trying to make sure that whatever tattoo I apply is going to with-stand the test of time and continue to look good for decades to come..I opened Five Ball with the intentions of bringing international tattoo culture to Venice Beach, California.  A town I call home and am in love with.  Its creative energy still fills the air and inspires me to create my best work daily..the history is a huge part of what keeps me here.  I've worked all over the states in major cities like Hollywood, New York city, San Francisco, Austin Texas ect...aswell as Europe..Amsterdam, london, Germany, Antwerp, Paris and Spain ect..  Picking up new techniques and tricks along the way.  After traveling the world with this ancient form of art I decided to settle down and set up shop here in Venice, the place I feel most comfortable and inspired.  I respect the art of the tattoo and the old school traditions and push the boundaries of style as far as I can to make every tattoo unique and different while staying to true to the foundations needed to make a proper tattoo in whatever style i'm currently working on.  I'm grateful that people trust me to decorate their skin permanently and don't take my job lightly.
